Life Transitions

Life Transitions

There is one thing certain about life. It will not stay the same. The second certainty, each person has a unique perspective on life.

Life transitions are challenging because they force us to let go of the familiar and face the future with a feeling of vulnerability.
~ Richard B. Joelson, DSW

An individual’s perspective on life contributes to how they navigate the move from familiar to unfamiliar. Life transitions don’t always have to be “BIG” to bring about stress. Timing, frequency or support (perhaps lack of) can impact how a person navigates a transition.

R.B. Joelson indicates most life transitions begin with:

  • The loss of a role
  • The loss of a person
  • The loss of a place
  • The loss of your sense of where you fit in the world

I may be able to support you with the following:

  • Grief Counseling
  • Divorce counseling or divorce coaching
  • Alzheimer’s diagnosis of family member
  • Chronic medical illness, personally or a family member
  • Mental illness diagnosis, personally or a family member
  • Marriage infidelity or marriage separation
  • Counseling for infertility
  • Relocation transition
  • Counseling for career transition or unemployment

You may be in the midst of a life transition or experienced one in the past that you haven’t fully embraced. I am here to help you explore the dynamics of the transition, maintain connection with others during and after the transition and identify things to change.
